Job Hunt Objective - What's Realistic
May 12th 2009 17:46
One of the hardest things about job hunting in a bad economy is facing the fact that you might have to "settle" for a job that's worse than the one you had.
This is a reality that many of us delay. "Maybe a good job will come up next month"; and another month goes by.
It's hard to know what kind of job you'll eventually get - but every month that goes by makes it a little tougher.
Look for a lower level job in a good company. When the economy improves (and it's not happening real soon), you may get a promotion or another opportunity that meets you expectations.
Know what you want, and go after it. Research the best companies in the industry you want, and apply for you job - even if it's not listed. After doing your best to find a better job, there will be plenty of time to contemplate a compromise.
