Finding Jobs: Do You Know Where to Look?
June 13th 2008 02:27
When it comes to finding a job, do you know the best places to look? If you are still looking at the classifieds in your local newspaper, you are missing a lot of opportunities. Now hopefully, if you are reading this blog, you are way beyond the newspaper classifieds and at least have somewhat of a clue about the Internet job search sites.
The thing is, though, there are different job search sites that you should visit for different fields. There is not a one size fits all way to find a job. You can always start with your basics (Careerbuilder.com; monster.com; etc.), but you should also do a search for job search sites that are specific to your field. If you are a writer or in the media check out mediabistro.com, but if you are in a field like education you should check www.chronicle.com. You may want to talk to others in your field to get a good idea on places to look for jobs, if you don’t find anything when you do an Internet search.
Finding your perfect job should be about more than identifying something for a paycheck each week. Going to the websites that offer a more specialized search, may help you find your ideal job. Keep in mind that some employers will only post on the job boards for those specialized sites. If you don’t look there, you are going to miss it.
